This one was a bit of saga. Originally booked as a larger UK wide tour, most of the dates were cancelled at short notice, with only the London show and I think maybe a couple of others going ahead. The lineup was ever changing as well. Collibus were certainly due to play, but had to pull out. Nevertheless, the London show went ahead as planned. Openers Control The Storm were once again on form, and this show marked the first time I'd seen them play their newly recorded cover of "Holding out for a hero". It was the first time I'd seen Alia Tempora, and I found them to be... OK. They did little wrong, but the material was veering a bit too close to the light, poppy end of the rock spectrum for my tastes. No Michele Guaitoli for this show, so Gabriele Gozzi once again stepped in on vocals for Temperance. I don't know if this is a temporary replacement or something more permanent, but he did a solid job. Alessia seems to be fitting in nicely too. There's not a great deal to say about this performance. It was solid without being exceptional, and at least they ddn't suffer from the same abysmal mix that plagued them when I last saw them at the same venue. | |
